On the 8th of August “Semarah Hotel Lielupe Spa & Conferences” hosted the classification tournament in chess among 3rd rank participants.
There have been 14 participants from Jurmala, Riga and Limbazhi altogether. It is worth noting that the girls turned out to be strong opponents against the boys in the competition, and they managed to head the tournament table. The competition has been full of suspense and excitement. The leader of the tournament Boris Fridman (6 points out of possible 7) lost the last round to Darya Mandrukevich, although this didn’t prevent him from taking the 1st place and performing the 2nd chess rank. At the same time, the victory brought to Darya the title of the best chess player among the girls. In the last round Eugenija Sinicina didn’t leave any chances to Aksels Vecvanags for performing the 2nd chess rank, and thereby she took the 3rd place. Undine Skreitule (Limbazhi) started the tournament very actively and it seemed that she was about to take the leading position, however, in the 3rd round she was unable to realize the spare piece in the rook ending and the round ended in a draw. Further, Undine faced two defeats in a row and a handsome win (4,5 points out of possible 7) and she took only the 6th place, as tie-break points turned out to be a bit worse; so she won a consolation prize.
The tournament was held in cozy and comfortable premises https://lielupe.semarahhotels.com/ru
Every participant had an opportunity to get his or her portrait from the painter Vadim Arsenyev.
